To preserve and interpret the Confederate Reunion Grounds and its environs, in order to educate and inspire people to embrace historic preservation.
The Confederate Reunion Grounds preserves and interprets three periods of Texas history for the enjoyment of today’s and future generations. The periods include the prehistoric cultures that lived in the Navasota River Valley, the late-19th-century reunion movement associated with the Civil War and the early-20th-century Mexia oil boom.
Confederate Reunion Grounds State Historic Site is a
Texas Historical Commission (THC) property. The THC’s mission is to protect and preserve the state's historic and prehistoric resources for the use, enjoyment and economic benefit of present and future generations.
