James M. Hyatt, my great, great, great uncle, was a soldier in Company K, 34th Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Cummings Brigade, Stephenson's Division, Army of Tennessee, CSA. After the war he moved to Texas in the 1870s and settled there. We have several letters that he wrote to his family in Georgia. We have a photograph of him, taken out on the prairie, with a string of burros loaded with what appear to be fence posts. In the distant background there are some white objects that are not clear. The inscription on the back of the photo says that in the background are the "Reunion Grounds." There are no large trees visible, so I assume that they had not grown up yet.
